How Many Words Do Industrial Webpages Need?
Time to Read: 1m 45s
Your customers know what they need and they know why they need it. They don't need to read a ton of text designed to convince them they should buy the thing you're selling. Do your webpages still need text? Yes. Content is important because it helps search engines find your website. We often add text to our clients' pages to get them to perform better in searches. If you don't add text to your pages, your site may fall way behind the competition. But how much text is enough? You may have heard that 300 words is the minimum. It's a good goal, and you should aim for it if you think you can reach it. Sometimes there's only so much you can say about a certain product or service, and that's fine. A 150-word page won't bring about the end of the world. However, the trick to making your content longer is to focus not on the product itself, but on why the customer should buy it from you; focus on your facility, your services, your team -- whatever makes you unique. "If no one is going to read this, why does it have to be good?" On many industrial webpages, you'll notice that the products come first and the text goes underneath them. Because the text is there more for search purposes, customers don't necessarily need to see it, and if they find what they're looking for, it's likely that they won't. But that doesn't mean your text doesn't have to be good. If a customer does scroll past the products and reads the text, bad text will kill the sale for sure. If your content doesn't make sense or is riddled with typos, potential buyers will get a negative impression of your company. They'll shop elsewhere. Write your text as if it's going to make or break every sale -- even if you're just putting it on your site for SEO purposes. At Ecreative, our copywriters always strive to write text that sells.
